Dear Customers and Friends,

Simple Sugar Bakery is closing up shop as of Nov. 24th. It is with great reluctance that we make this decision, but we know that it is the right decision at the right time. Since the beginning, our mission has been to provide you with fresh-baked,  never frozen desserts and pastries made only with the finest and fewest ingredients, and to sell those treats at reasonable prices. Unfortunately that is no longer feasible. With the rising costs of butter, flour, milk, eggs and chocolate, we reached a point where we knew that we would either have to raise our prices substantially or sacrifice quality. We are willing to do neither.

For more than two years, we have enjoyed baking for you. So many of you were loyal, enthusiastic customers and we’ll miss you most of all. We want to thank the local businesses that supported us during this time, especially Basil Doc’s Pizza in Washington Park where we baked for the past two years. If you haven’t tried Basil Doc’s pizza, you really are missing something wonderful. We are also grateful to Wash Perk Coffee Shop for carrying our breakfast goodies and to The Briarwood Inn for numerous cake orders and to all of the other local restaurants, businesses and individuals who placed orders with us.

Simple Sugar Bakery was honored to provide the sweets for a beautiful wedding at the Manor House tonight.  The bride and groom said “I do” to Simple Sugar Bakery’s cake lollies, raspberry tartlets, lemon bars and decadent cupcakes.  Congratulations to the happy couple!
